Baroque Festival

ABOUT

The Baroque Festival is held annually to encourage the study of Baroque Music. Guest artists present an educational program about the music of this period in an entertaining manner that appeals to students of all ages including adults. Students are invited to play one original piece, any level, from memory, by any Baroque composer. Students of all disciplines including ensembles are welcome. Every student that participates will receive an attractive medal with a photo of this year’s composer, Johann Sebastian Bach.

Guest Artist: Our guest artist, Dr. Bruce Bales, is the Early Music Ensemble Director at Chapman University and a well-known lecturer in Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque Music History

    Baroque Festival

    Guest Artist:

    Our guest artist, Dr. Bruce Bales, is the Early Music Ensemble Director at Chapman University and a well-known lecturer in Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque Music History. He will be telling a hard-to-believe story about the historical context of a piece of music. The artists will perform it. The audience will then vote by a show of hands whether or not the story was true.  All of this will be supplemented with the visual aide of power point slides.
